QIO Assistance with EHR-Based PQRS Reporting

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) encourages providers to begin reporting PQRS measures using the EHR-based reporting option. To help providers participate in PQRS via EHR-based submission, CMS has contracted Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) to provide free assistance to eligible professionals. All QIOs in the U.S. are contracted to assist providers in EHR-based PQRS reporting under their 10th Scope of Work contracts. Though QIOs may vary in the specific assistance they provide with EHR-based PQRS reporting, they will assist providers with data submission for PQRS using EHR-based reporting and development of monthly quarterly reports for office and quality improvement tracking. QIOs can also provide education and support in setting up sustainable quality improvement tools and programs.

Examples of assistance QIOs may provide include:

• Process improvement/workflow redesign

• Documentation in reportable fields

• Report development

• Feedback reports

• Direct reporting assistance

*Note: these services may vary by individual QIO.

There is one QIO in each state, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To find your QIO, visit the QIO Directory at http://www.qualitynet.org/dcs/ContentServer?c=Page&pagename=QnetPublic%2FPage%2FQnetTier2&cid=1144767874793.
